Practicing the Presence of God
All of life is lived in the Presence of God; there’s no part of it, nothing too mundane or ordinary, that isn’t permeated by Him.
-Ken Boa
“Practice makes perfect!”
An all too familiar phrase that we’ve undoubtedly heard time and time again, but lately I’ve been applying it to the Presence of God.
So much of our days can be spent mindlessly going from one task to the next, from one appointment to the next, sometimes being so busy and distracted that we relegate the Creator of heaven and earth to second place or an after thought. Compartmentalizing God.
Guilty as charged!
Combating this flawed and burdensome lifestyle rests heavily on our becoming increasingly more aware of God’s Presence - in the seemingly mundane even to the mind-blowing experiences. We all need to be more intimately acquainted with His Presence, His voice, His nature, His perspective and His mind. Developing that spiritual muscle requires deliberate practices and habits that we must intentionally integrate in our daily lives. Start small, but be steadfast and soon you (and anyone else for that matter) won’t be able to tell where you end and where He begins.
In His word He promises to give us life, and that we might have it more abundantly - the purpose-filled and invigorating existence that is fueled only by the Holy Ghost. He will open the eyes of our understanding, convict our hearts and transform our minds! A life lived out in His Presence means just that - your entire life, and not just Sunday mornings for a few hours. To abide, walk in step with the Spirit, rejoice always, pray continually, to dwell - these should represent our daily training routine.
Desire a life in His Presence, one of constant transformation as we come to know Him again and again.
Psalm 27:4 - One thing that I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
Psalm 27:8 - When thou saids, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
